Your ob must have missed the lecture at Uni when they said that a babies head has plates to allow it to mould and fit through Seriously that is a sign that he doesn't trust you to do your thing. If you feel fine and sure of yourself, then there is no need to rush into it at this point. Leave it a few days and reassess.

Oh darls...i understand the anxiousness your feeling..i really do - i was there this time 2 years ago, to the day. #4 due on 28 May.....induction was discussed on 26 may at middie appt - wtf....??? They wanted to see me the following tuesday (2 june), to discuss induction. 'i wont be there, i will have had baby by then'. I remember walking out of htat appt very deflated, yet very determined - no way was i going to be induced. Baby came on 29 May around 11am.
Baby #2 they did the same...i went 4 days over. By the 5th day they wanted to book me in and go ahead with the induction. I begged for the weekend to get over it...she came on the sunday morning. You sound like you really want your natural birth, and with this unneccessary pressure, its not doing much help is it.
Only think i can suggest is, positive thinking (which i know you are). But our minds can play tricks on us...and maybe the whole thought of an induction, lying on the table, waiting for the drip has entered your mind. Dont let it. Dont let any of that talk enter your mind. Of course listen to the professionals, but your not gonna be there next Wed, coz you would have had baby by then. For me, it was all about positive thinking. Good luck....massive labour vibes coming your way with this post....

Hon I have no idea about going over but I wanted to tell you my story.

I was to be induced at 40 weeks (on the Sunday 21st my due date) (blood pressure thing) and I really did not want that. I had an internal done on the Monday 15th and was told that my cirvix was not favourable, I wasn't dialated at all and there was pretty much no chance of me having my bubba before my induction date.

Well I woke up at 2:30am on Tuesday 16th in labour and my DS was born 44 hours later. I was later told my an OB that internals ofter "stir things up".

So I dont know if that helps but thats my story.

Good luck and I know that you are a strong person do what you feel is right within yourself, your body, your mind.
